How Does the Subaru Eyesight Driver Assist Technology System Work?
The Eyesight system is mounted above your rear-view mirror, largely out of view for you as a driver. It faces forward and will monitor the road ahead and around you to ensure your safety and awareness. Many of the most recent Subaru models receive an updated Eyesight system that uses a new camera system that has better resolution, resulting in even more proactive driving aids.
What Features Are Offered in the Eyesight Driver Assist Technology System?
Every Subaru vehicle with an Eyesight Driver Assist Technology system offers the same helpful features. The Eyesight features include:
Adaptive Cruise Control
The adaptive cruise control feature will keep a safe and set distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. You can either choose the distance you want to maintain, or let the system choose it for you. The adaptive cruise control feature will then automatically adjust your speed based on that set distance, slowing down and speeding up accordingly to the flow of traffic.
There's also an available Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control feature on select models, that will also maintain the set distance, while also keeping you safely centered in your lane as you travel.
Lane Keep Assist
The Lane Keep Assist feature of the Eyesight system will monitor the road and your vehicle's position on it. If you start to drift out of your lane, the feature will alert you, allowing you to safely guide your vehicle back into the center of the lane.
Pre-Collision Braking
The new pre-collision braking feature helps you drive around Elyria with the utmost confidence. If the system determines that there's a possible collision ahead, it will alert you both audibly and visually to apply the brakes. If you fail to apply them on time, the system will automatically apply the full braking force for you, either avoiding or lessening the impact of the collision.
Pre-Collision Throttle Management
If the Eyesight system detects objects in front of you that you're likely to hit, the system will reduce power from the engine to minimize impact force and frontal impact damage. It can also cut the engine off in the event of a larger collision, so the vehicle won't travel any further.
